Swamp Thing: Alligator Attitude, Monster Truck Power

Some monster trucks look angry or mean, but Swamp Thing looks like it’s having too much fun, which somehow makes it even more unsettling. One moment it’s parked, bright green and grinning. The next, it’s hurling tonnes of metal into the air as if physics barely applies.

Beneath its loud bodywork, Swamp Thing Monster Truck is built to take punishment. It’s styled after a Ford F-350 Super Duty and runs on a methanol-injected 572-cubic-inch tall-block V8 with a BDS supercharger from ZaNNtec. Is that over the top? Definitely. The team says it makes about 2,000 bhp, perfect for flattening cars for fun.

Of course, 2,000 bhp only matters if the truck can handle the landing. Swamp Thing uses eight 26-inch Racesource Nitro Shocks to absorb the impact as it crashes back to the ground. The gearbox is a Turbo 400 (TH400) from ZaNNtec.

Swamp Thing is always a crowd favourite for its power and personality. The bright green paint, wild grin, and rapid bursts of speed draw everyone's attention. As soon as it moves, you know something loud and dramatic is coming as the cars get ready to be crushed under the almighty weight.

Swamp Thing is driven by Tony Dixon, a familiar name in the British monster truck scene who has been at the wheel since 2003, when the truck first burst onto the circuit. But Swamp Thing isn’t a one-man show; it’s a true family operation. Tony’s daughter, Georgina Dixon, also takes on driving duties, making her debut behind the wheel in 2024. Together, they prove that monster trucks can be powered just as much by family teamwork as by horsepower.

Swamp Thing is set to return to Monsterslam at Quex Park, Birchington, Kent, on Sunday, 26 July 2026.
